What parry is for
Parry should answer a read, not replace movement. Predictable defenders are punishable, but predictable attackers feed parry and Instability pressure.
- F is the current listed parry input.
- Parry bullets when the shot timing is readable.
- Use movement to force bad shots instead of waiting still.
- Do not parry every time you feel threatened.
- Review failed parries to separate early timing, late timing, and baited timing.
Slam and bullet parry notes
Some parry interactions are documented with mechanics-specific behavior.
- Ground Slam can be parried.
- A parried Ground Slam reflects Instability instead of applying it normally.
- The doc lists Castigate bullet parry as adding 20% Instability.
- The doc says Castigate bullet parry angle scales with Instability, from 45? at zero to 19? at max.
- Phoenix direct-hit and max-Instability parry behavior should be treated as doc-sourced until rechecked after patches.
Timing practice
The best practice is controlled repetition. Ask another player to shoot or pressure from known timings before adding full duel chaos.
- Start with obvious shots, then vary the delay.
- Watch the opponent model and route, not just your cooldown.
- Practice against Castigate, Phoenix, Siege, and Monarch separately because their timings differ.
- Record short clips to compare early, late, and correct attempts.
- Do not spam parry while guessing; reset and identify the cue.
Bait and recovery
Once players know you love parry, they can delay, close, slam, wallbang, or reset. Recovery is the second half of the mechanic.
- Expect delayed shots from players who notice your timing.
- Move after a failed parry instead of freezing.
- Do not chase immediately after every successful parry.
- Use cover if destabilized or high Instability makes bullet parry harder.
- Ask for Discord review when you cannot tell what cue you missed.
